I remember my first day being called as Young Men's president. Before I made it out of the chapel after sacrament meeting I had already been told about 3 different youth activities that were coming up that I would be involved in very soon. I was also approached by one of the priests who said, "Great, the Lord picked the only guy in the ward that I can't beat at basketball to be my leader!". You will quickly find that there are a lot of activities and a lot of personalities. Leading these youth is all about being there and developing relationships. The number one rule of leadership is simply showing up. The rest of the rules define what you do once you get there. Shaping, molding, uplifiting, correcting, joking, testifying and insipring to name a few.

There are 52 weekday activities per year, 12 firesides and multiple weekend scout activites and Stake level activities. You can quickly become overwhelmed by it. These links are a few of the tools I have used to get the "organization" aspect of the calling down. If you can spend time planning out the entire year ahead and possibly two years in advance, then you can spend less time wondering WHAT you are going to do and more time planning ways to inspire the youth with the activities and truly impact their lives. If you have some links, activities or calling suggestions that would be valuable to others please share them with me for consideration. May you find much success and joy in serving the youth of the Church.
